Let your kids’ creativity shine

We’ve all come across various phrases and terms that relate to being creative. Most parents find themselves praising their kids for being creative when they come home from school with a cute drawing or painting.

But what exactly is creativity?

Author Mary Lou Cook thinks of creativity as “inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes and having fun”. We think that all these, together with a spirited imagination, sums up the whole idea of creativity perfectly.

Mum and dad, if you’re looking for an activity that will inspire your little ones this June holidays, we’ve got great news for you!

Singapore Innovative Children’s Festival

Singapore Innovative Children's Festival

Abbott Gain IQ, together with Innovative Diagnostics and the National Library Board, has worked together to come up with the first-ever creative arts festival for children in Singapore. From 17 to 23 June, the Singapore Innovative Children’s Festival is set to roll out over 100 amazing creative programmes that will encourage creativity and passion for the arts in your bright-eyed little ones aged one to 12.

The exciting line-up of programmes includes international theatre shows, contemporary dance, robot-building seminars, reading workshops and more. One of the highlights of the festival is the Robot City workshop, where kids will have a chance to build their very own robot and take it home with them. There’ll be plenty of story time sessions for kids to go to at various public libraries around Singapore. Parents can also look forward to some quality time with their babies while they settle down to enjoy a colourful theatre production specially put together for toddlers from 7 to 18 months.

There’s something for mums and dads too!

Besides taking their kids to the many exciting activities during festival week, there will also be a parenting seminar for all mums and dads. Led by Dr Tina Payne Bryson, best-selling author of “The Whole Brain Child”, parents will be able to gain more insights and skills on bringing up an intelligent and creative child. This parenting seminar will run on 20 and 21 June from 7.30 to 9.30pm, and is priced at $22 per person.

See you there!
