The Esplanade continues its year-long 10th anniversary celebrations by bringing you a Octoburst! a series of events that brings All the Wonderful Things to the community. Kidlander picks out the best of this series that your kids can enjoy happening in October!
Directed by Katherine McLeod, this is an interactive story about a mother orangutan and her baby who encounter a mysterious creature destroying the rainforest. Join forces with the orangutan family and rainforest animals to help save their home.
Singapore Dance Theatre captivates young audiences with an hour of magic, fantasy, fairies, princes, princesses and exquisite dancing. Presented through narration and dance excerpts, discover interesting facts about dance and pantomime.
1. Tell Me a Story!
This workshop focuses on the sharing and passing down of each family’s unique history and stories with their children. Participants are encouraged to bring along family photographs for the session. Conducted in English by Kamini Ramachandran.
2. The Wonderful World of Stories!
Engage children through storytelling using simple resources. Focusing on local and Asian stories, with demonstrations, this workshop is for developing your own repertoire of stories to share with the young. Conducted in English by Rosemarie Somaiah.
3. Draw Me a Story!
Fold, scribble, doodle, cut and paste with your child at this picture book making workshop.
Participants will learn the basics of visual literacy, storyboarding and the concept of picture book writing. Leading the workshop is Ah Guo, who will also show you how to encourage and stimulate your childs’ interest and expression in Mandarin.
