Top 5 places for a family holiday in 2013

Now that your kids are old enough, give them the chance to explore Asia. Encourage your kids to appreciate the beauty, cuisine and languages of different countries. These top 5 hot vacation spots are some of the most beautiful, kid-friendly places in Asia and should not be missed.

1. Singapore

Singapore is so full of kid-friendly places that it isn’t surprising that more and more families visit this country for a vacation. Apart from the world-famous Singapore Zoo, the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve is another place where kids can see lots of animals including lizards, birds, otters and many more. What makes the Sungei Buloh Reserve such a hit is the fact that they offer guided tours that are free of charge. When the kids have seen their fill of wildlife, let them explore the Universal Studios. In this magical amusement park, adults and children come together to see the loveable characters of Shrek, Madagascar and much, much more.

2. Thailand

Chiang Mai in Thailand offers a slew of kid-friendly sites that are perfect for the whole family. The Elephant Conservation Centre is the capital’s must-see. Apart from the viewing of elephants, Taweechol Park offers lots of relaxing activities such as bike rides, paddle boats and a petting zoo. If getting wet is more the family’s thing, the beaches of Koh Lanta are definitely winners. Its calm and very blue waters never fail to entice beach-goers to extend their stay.

3. Philippines

The Philippines is known for its beautiful beaches and if the whole family wants to take a dip in crystal clear waters with fine white sand, head on out to Boracay Island. There are many beach resorts and hotels in the island that cater to the needs of the family. Filipino hospitality is very much present here so you can be sure that your kids will be well taken care of. The flea markets located all over the island are some of the adults’ favorites as well. Here, they can purchase anything from sarongs to seafood at very low cost.

4. Malaysia

Your child will surely love to visit one of the tallest towers in the world – the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur. Apart from offering a sky high view of the city, the towers are also home to the Aquaria KLCC and Petroleum Discovery Centre. The Aquaria KLCC holds a very large (think 60,000 square foot!) aquarium that contains a myriad of marine animals. The Petroleum Discovery Centre encourages kids to have fun with science and technology.

5. Cambodia

For families who want to get away from everything for a few days, the Rabbit Island or Ko Tonsay in Cambodia is the perfect destination. Dolphin watching at Kratie is recommended as well. The place does not have any electricity except only at nights so you and your kids will not be distracted by cellphones or the internet. Sunscreen and your imagination are the only things that you need.
